Ron Duhamel Award

Awarded annually to the highest-ranking self-identified Indigenous student entering the second year of the Bachelor of Arts-Bachelor of Education (Indigenous Education) Degree program.

Award Background
Awarded in honour of Ron J. Duhamel. Graduating from Lakehead in 1968 with his B.A., Ron Duhamel later went on to earn his Masters and Doctorate in management and administration from the University of Toronto. He didn’t stop there. Ron was truly a multi-faceted individual, holding positions ranging from the Assistant Deputy Minister for French Language Education in Manitoba to MP for St. Boniface in the House of Commons. He was a promoter of opportunities for all Canadians – youth in particular. This award is a reminder of Ron’s generosity and steadfast belief that everyone has something valuable to contribute.
