DP Diamond Blades Geology Field Studies Bursary

Awarded to a 4th year Geology student participating in Geology Field School who demonstrates financial need. If there is no eligible candidate in their fourth year, second preference will go to a 2nd year student participating in Geology Field School who demonstrates financial need.

Award Background
Dave “Diamond Dave” Pykari is the Founder, Owner and President of Thunder Bay-based DP Diamond Blades and Core Cutting Services. With more than two decades of experience in mineral exploration and over 150,000 metres of rock cut personally, Dave brings deep expertise and longstanding connections to Northwestern Ontario’s mining community. Through DP Diamond Blades, he has consistently shown a genuine interest in supporting and encouraging the next generation of mining professionals. Understanding the importance of fieldwork and hands-on experience in preparing future geologists, Dave hopes this award will help reduce the financial barriers associated with geology field school. His goal is to ensure that all students can participate in this invaluable experience and develop the foundational skills that come from hands-on, experiential learning.
