Linus Fung STEM Ibtikar Award

Awarded to a full-time undergraduate student enrolled in any STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) program, with a minimum overall average of 70%, demonstrated financial need, and involvement in university or community activities.
Recipient can be from the Thunder Bay or Orillia campuses, or the Barrie STEM Hub.

Award Background
Linus is a railway technologist originally from Hong Kong. He had the unexpected opportunity to turn an original idea into a software solution that went on to win an Ibtikar Award—“ibtikar” meaning innovation in Arabic—in the MENA region. That experience showed him how an idea can develop in ways that were never anticipated at the beginning.
Having also been given the opportunity to build a lasting connection with Canada, he would like to pass on some of that positive energy and, hopefully, help cultivate the next generation of innovators. Linus believes in giving a little more than he takes and leaving a little more than was here.
Thank you, Canada.
