Live Your Dream Award

The Soroptimist Live Your Dream Awards is a signature program of Soroptimist International of the Americas. Soroptimist International of Thunder Bay is one of nearly 1,300 clubs that make up Soroptimist International of the Americas, a volunteer organization for women committed to improving the lives of women and girls through programs leading to economic empowerment.

Eligibility:

• provide the primary financial support for themselves and their dependents. Dependents can include children, spouse, partner, siblings, and/or parents.
  *. Have financial need
  *. enrolled or have been accepted to a high school equivalency, vocational, technical, r undergraduate degree program
• Do not have a graduate degree

Note: Receiving government support, child support, living in subsidized housing or in someone else’s home do not negate a woman’s primary financial responsibility for her dependents or disqualify a woman from being eligible for the program.

Each year, more than 1,500 women receive a Soroptimist Live Your Dream Award. The Soroptimist Live Your Dream Awards are cash awards given to motivated women who are the primary financial supporters of their families. The recipients of the awards seek to improve their lives by gaining additional skills, training or education, but do not have the resources to do so. These cash awards are meant to offset any costs associated with the recipient’s efforts to attain higher education, including tuition, books, supplies, child care or transportation costs, actually anything that the recipient needs.
