Laureen and Biff Weiler Memorial Award

Laureen and Biff Weiler were long-time residents of Thunder Bay and raised a large family here. Biff Weiler was a founding partner with his brother (G.B. “Bernie” Weiler) of the local law firm now known as Weiler, Maloney, Nelson. Laureen attended Lakehead University later in life and received her BA in 1970 and her HBA (English) in 1971. Both she and her husband recognized that simple academic achievement was not the be all and end all of a university education. Awarded to an in-course student enrolled in the Honours Bachelor of Arts (English) degree program OR the Bachelor of Arts (English) degree program on the basis of academic achievement and financial need. Community involvement may also be considered.
