Bob and Helen Shumacher and George & Helen Tucker Bursary

Bob Schumacher was a pioneer in establishing socail work in Northwestern Ontario as well as being the driving force behind advocay and treatment of schizophrenia. During his distinguished career, Bob and Helen worked tirelessly with acacemic insttitutions, organizations and social workers to provide education and develop support services for families and patients with schizophrenia. This bursary was established in 2000 by Helen Shumacher to perpetuate the work of the Shumachers towards increasing awareness of schizophrenia. Awarded to a student in Social Work on the basis of financial need. Preference will be given to those students with an interest in schizophrenia or allied brain disorders.
