Dr. Anita Beltran Chen Graduate Research School in Sociology

Established in 1991 by Anita Beltran Chen, a Sociology faculty member since 1964 and founding Chair of the Department of Sociology/Anthropology in 1966 and the Department
of Sociology in 1972 at Lakehead University. Awarded to a graduate student in Sociology who has finished his/her first year of graduate studies at Lakehead University
and is proceeding to a second year as a full-time graduate student. This award is in support of the student’s proposed research project in any one of these areas: Sociology
of Medicine, Sociology of Aging, Ethnicity and Migration. Application should be made in the form of a letter to the Chair of the Department of Sociology, describing the nature of
the proposed research, along with a copy of the student’s transcript. The Department of Sociology will forward their selection to the Office of Graduate Studies.
