David B. Parsons Memorial Award

The ripples of tributes to David Parsons on August 31, 2018 will be felt for some time. Talented beyond measure as an athlete, professor, author and sports official, he was respected and loved by all.
David fiercely loved his family and exploring all corners of the world. He excelled in everything he did, notably as an athlete for his skills on the court and was recognized as Lakehead’s Athlete of the Year in 1964. His talents on the court also made him a sought-after basketball referee for over 20 years.
David’s Legacy on the landscape of Lakehead University as a beloved author and English professor of more than 30 years will continue through the establishment of the David B. Parsons Memorial Award.
Awarded to a student in any Faculty who has successfully completed a first-year technical writing course with preference given to Lakehead University student varsity athlete.
The David B. Parsons Memorial Award was established in 2019 in loving memory by longtime friend, Diane Mason.
